In the Tibet of snowy region, one of the most exciting and attractive
things is the traditional festival. Almost every month there is one or two days being festival days, some of which are evolved from
the folk custom activities.
The Tibetan Calendar New Year(藏年历节)
The Tibetan calendar is one of the famous Astronomical Almanac of China. The Tibetan people over the Tibetan New Year, usually begins in the first day of the lunar January and last for three or five days.
Lantern Festival (花灯节)
The Tibetan lunar January15 is the Lantern Festival. This day was originally a religious believer of the day of the assembly; people do a lot of Ghee Lamp pilgrimage for Buddhist.
After people add the lighthouse, lamp holder as well as butter sculptures to shape a variety of characters, flowers, birds and animals, for viewing.
Bathing Festival (沐浴节)
In early July, the Tibetan people will have a mass to the river to take a shower activity, known as" the bathing festival". The Bathing Festival, because of last about a week, is also known as bath week.
The Shoton Festival( 雪顿节)
In Tibetan “雪” is the meaning of yogurt and “顿”means party, so it means the festival of eating yogurt.
Now the Shoton festival activities evolved into the Tibetan Opera Festival, so some people call it" the Tibetan Opera festival". Time in Tibetan is from the end of June to early July.
Horse Racing Festival (赛马节)
Horse riding and archery are favorite sports of the Tibetan people, and it is usually held on the time from late July to early August of the Tibetan calendar every year.
Harvest Festival (望果节)
Tibetan people wish the harvest festival, held on the occasion of crop maturity. Activities include horse racing, archery, sing opera, and so on.
Sa Gada Watt Festival(萨噶达瓦节)
April 15 of the Tibetan calendar, which is reported to be the day of birth to Buddha of Sakyamuni, is also the Memorial day when WenCheng Princess arrived in Lhasa. Every year on this day, Tibetans will hold rallies and visit the park.
Hide forest Ji Sang Festival藏木林吉桑节
The original meaning is" world for the Buddha" and is held in May 15th of Tibetan calendar every year. And now, from May 1st to the 15th each year, Tibetan people go out of the yard, walking, singing and dancing in the Park, having picnics, and then form a mass of " Visiting Parks Festival".
