Allhallowmas Hallowmas all saints' day
Halloween starts on the evening of October 31st.
Words & stories
1.万圣节的庆祝活动来源于All Hallows Day 或 All Saints Day,每年的11月1日。
2.Halloween 这个字来自于All Hallows Eve,也就是All Hallows Day的前一天。
3.Dressing up in costumes 按照传统,人们会dress up in costumes(穿戴着一些特別的服裝,面具或者装饰)来吓跑灵魂。
4.流行的万圣节服裝包括vampires(吸血鬼),ghosts(死者的灵魂)和werewolves(每当月圆时变成狼形的人)。
8.万圣节还和一些supernatural creatures(如鬼魂和吸血鬼)有关。
在蘇格蘭,小孩要糖果時會說:“The sky is blue, the grass is green, may we have our Halloween.”(天是藍色,草是綠色,齊來慶祝萬聖節前夜)然後以唱歌跳舞等方式來博得糖果

History
The celebration has some elements of a festival of the dead.
The ancient Celts believed that the border between this world and the Otherworld became thin on Samhain, allowing spirits (both harmless and harmful) to pass through. It is believed that the need to scare off harmful spirits led to the wearing of costumes and masks. Their purpose was to disguise(扮演) oneself as a harmful spirit and thus avoid harm.
Origin of name
The term Halloween, originally spelled Hallowe’en, is shortened from All Hallows' Even – e'en is a shortening of even, which is a shortening of evening.
This is ultimately derived from Old English. It is now known as "Eve of" All Saints' Day, which is November 1st.
